Barcelona Beat Sevilla To Go Top Of La Liga

Barcelona defeated Sevilla at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys by the slimmest of margins to go top of the Spanish La Liga, while maintaining their 100 percent home record this season.

The game ended one-nil courtesy a 76th minute own goal from former Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) defender, Sergio Ramos. The defender unluckily redirected the ball into his net while performing his defensive duties for SSevilla.

Prior to the goal, Barcelona had decent attempts in the first half but were warded off by the defensive stance of the visitors, Sevilla. Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona striker was also curtailed and couldn’t make much impact on the game.

It was more of the same in the second half, with Barcelona dominating the entire encounter and Sevilla looking to hit them on the counterattack.

However, Barcelona finally got the breakthrough after Sergio Ramos diverted Yamal’s header into his net. A goal which eventually proved to be Decisive. All attempts by the visitors to get the equalizer proved abortive.

The result ensures that Barcelona remains unbeaten in the Spanish La Liga this season and sends them to the top of the Spanish La Liga with 20 points in eight matches. For Sevilla, the result extends their winless run against Barcelona to 16 league matches.
