Atiku Abubakar, the People Democratic Party presidential candidate, is expected to address a world press conference today, over the issue of President Bola Tinubu’s academic record released by the Chicago State University on Tuesday, October 3.
This was announced in a statement on a press release invitation.
Atiku’s press conference will be held today, Thursday, October 5 at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The statement reads, “This is to inform and invite you to the World Press Conference of Our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, at the Yar’Adua Centre, Tomorrow, Thursday 5, October 2023, in the afternoon.
“The exact time will be communicated shortly. Please endeavor to attend. Thank You.”
Recall Atiku had secured President Bola Tinubu’s academic record from CSU through a court subpoena.
Tinubu had earlier opposed to the court’s ruling by Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert, appealed for the academic records not to be released. The release, which claimed, would cause him severe damage.
The release came after the United States Judge, Nancy Maldonado, for the Illinois district court issued an order to the Chicago State University for an immediate release of the academic records.
The released records, which were made available to Atiku’s legal team on October 3, and deposition on Tuesday, showed that Tinubu’s 1979 CSU certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not the same as the certificate the institution issued to students the same year.
The CSU Registrar, Caleb Westberg, said under oath that he could not certify the certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC.
Since the release of this document, Atiku has remained silent.
