Nigeria Draw Host, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea in Group A Of 2024 AFCON

The super eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against host Nation, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in Group A of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Group stage draws took place at a ceremony held in Abidjan, the capital city of the West Africa Host, Ivory Coast dated Thursday, 12th of October and the tournament is expected to run from January 13th to February 11th, 2024.

According to reports, the tournament was initially planned to kick start in June 2023 but had to be shifted to January 2024 as a result of weather issues in the Ivory Coast. It was predicted that the heavy rainfall may disrupt the competition.

Unlike the previous editions of the prestigious African tournament which accommodated 16 countries, this edition is expected to consist of 20 Nations. The top two countries from each of the six groups alongside four best losers are expected to go through to the next round of the competition.
