Manchester United have added a new name to their already long list of injured players as Casemiro came off with an ankle problem in a World Cup qualifier match against Venezuela.
Brazil was a goal up courtesy of a header of Gabriel early in the second half, when Casemiro requested to be substituted in the 79th minute due to an ankle problem, but Venezuela got the equalizer five minutes from the end of regulation time via Eduard Bello’s acrobatic effort to end Brazil winning streak.
According to Fernando Diniz, the Brazil Coach, Casemiro asked to be withdrawn due to ankle discomfort, and they have to wait for the medical reports on the extent of the injury ahead of their crucial clash against Uruguay on Tuesday.
In another reaction, Manchester United have recently swung into action to investigate the underlying causes of the incessant injuries in their first team, with 16 players Sidelined due to injury after eight Premier League matches.
With the recent development, reports have revealed that The Red Devils’ medical officials are trying to identify the injury patterns, proffer solutions to the injury problems, and install a system for injury prevention in the future.
Nonetheless, the form of injury sustained by Casemiro isn’t predictable as things go from bad to worse in the injury list for the red side of Manchester. Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Luke Shaw are expected to be out of action for a long time due to the nature of their injuries.
On the other hand, Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo are gradually getting closer to fitness and could return to action soon enough.
Manchester United will return to action against Sheffield United immediately after the international break and then host Copenhagen and Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League and English Premier League respectively.
