Unilorin Graduates 25,234 Graduands, 450 Bags First Class

In the academic years 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 that have just been rounded up, the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) awarded first-class degrees to four hundred and fifty students.

At the upcoming 37th and 38th combined convocations from Friday to Monday, a total of 25,234 students will graduate from the school.  Some of these graduates have earned First-Class honors to their names.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole, SAN, revealed this news during a press conference in Ilorin, the State Capital of Kwara State, on Wednesday.

The Vice-Chancellor mentioned that in the 37th Convocation ceremonies, slated for the 2020/2021 academic session, there would be 14,477 students participating. For the 38th convocation ceremonies, which are dedicated to the 2021/2022 Academic Session, he indicated that 10,757 students would be graduating. The University is making preparations for a significant event by celebrating the accomplishments of numerous hardworking students across the two academic sessions.In his comprehensive address, he provided a concise summary of the forthcoming convocation ceremonies at the University.

According to his statement, an impressive count of 13,020 students is set to walk across the stage to collect their well-earned First Degrees and Diplomas. This notable achievement marks a significant milestone in their academic journey, showcasing their dedication and hard work. Furthermore, he delved into the specifics of the 37th convocation ceremonies and elucidated that within this academic session, a commendable total of 1,457 Higher Degrees will be conferred. This academic distinction, comprising various postgraduate accolades, represents a testament to the commitment to excellence upheld by both the University and its esteemed graduates.

“In the First Degree/Diploma category of the 37th convocation ceremonies, we have 211 First Class, 4,143 Second Class (Upper Division), 6,570 Second Class (Lower Division), 1,742 Third Class and 30 Pass. The 37th convocation ceremonies also include 151 MBBS graduands, 73 Nursing graduands, 18 Optometry graduands, 43 Veterinary Medicine graduands, 12 graduands with Distinction, and 27 graduands with Pass in Pharmacy.” The Vice Chancellor concluded.
