Spurs Comeback Twice To Earn A Point At Old Trafford

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur side had to come from behind on two occasions to clinch a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The home side Manchester United got off to a flying start with Rasmus Hojlund scoring his second Premier League goal in two games, after just three minutes into the match.

Tottenham responded well after conceding so early in the game as they mounted a fightback. Diogo Dalot had to clear Bentacur’s glancing header off the line and Johnny Evans deflected Timo Werner’s header wide of the target.

The visitors kept searching for the equalizer and the pressure they piled up eventually yielded results in the 19th minute, after Richarlison headed home a corner by Pedro Porro, making it his sixth goal in six games.

Following the goal, the visitors dominated possession with Man United looking to hit them on the counterattack and almost went ahead after Destiny Udogie headed Marcus Rashford’s cross onto his woodwork in a clearance attempt.

United regained control of the game and restored their lead barely five minutes before the interval via a strike from Marcus Rashford, following his linkup play with Hojlund and Man United went into the break 2-1 up.

Despite United’s early onslaught in the second half, it was Spurs who leveled things up one minute into the second half. Bentacur received a pass from Timo Werner and fired it into the roof of the post.

Man United manager, Erik Ten Hag brought in Scott Mctominay to replace Christian Eriksen. However, the Scottish international failed to convert a free header in the last few seconds of the game and the game ended two all.

Old Trafford was graced by the presence of Sir Jim Ratcliffe ahead of the Premier League confirmation and approval of his 25% minority stake in the club.

The draw moves Manchester United up to seventh, one point ahead of Brighton and Chelsea while Tottenham remains in fifth place, failing to catch Arsenal.
