Forest Green Rovers Manager and former Watford striker, Troy Deeney has been shown the exit door by the club just after 29 days in charge.
The sack came days after Deeney openly criticized his players for being scared and described some of them as sulkers after the recent 2-0 loss to Harrogate in League Two. He accused his players of hiding and not wanting to take control of games.
However, he conceded in an interview session that he allowed his emotions to get the better of him. He also admitted that he shouldn’t have openly slammed his players so much the way he did.
During his 29-day spell at the club, Deeney failed to record a victory in his six games in charge, three draws and three defeats which was a major factor in the Club’s decision to part ways with him less than a month at the helm of affairs.
The 35-year-old ex-striker joined Forest Green as a player-coach last summer and was later appointed as the Manager of the Club on December 20 after the sacking of David Horseman.
Deeney was however unable to improve things in the club having failed to secure a victory in his six games in charge. Forest Green are currently bottom of League Two and seven points from safety.
The Chairman of the club, Dale Vince made an official statement regarding the decision to fire Deeney. He revealed that the Club acted that way to give Forest Green the chance to improve results and move up the log. He also thanked Deeney for his efforts to improve things at the club.
Dan Connor, the Goalkeeping coach of the team will take charge of the game against Gillingham on Saturday before the possible appointment of Deeney’s replacement.
