Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed that the burial of the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu will not be a gloomy affair but a celebration of life.

Aiyedatiwa also noted that Akeredolu would be given a state burial, adding that Akeredolu’s family is being awaited for further briefings on the burial rites.

He said this while receiving the new Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Prof. Kayode Ijadunola, who visited him in the capital, Akure.

The governor described the death of the former governor as a big loss, owing to the contributions he had made in all areas of human endeavour.

“The burial of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredelu will not be a gloomy affair but a celebration of the life of a patriot who was true to life and mankind,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa said that Akeredolu will be given a well-deserved state burial, stating that the family is being awaited for further briefing.

The governor noted that Elizade University is a fantastic institution, saying the state government holds the founder, Chief Michael Ade Ojo, in high regard.

Earlier, ljadunola called for a strong collaboration between the Ondo State government and the institution.

This was contained in a statement released by the school’s Head of Public Relations, Williams Olufunmi.

He noted that the university employs no fewer than 500 indigenes of Ondo alongside others around the world, adding that they contribute substantially to the socio-economic growth of the state.

The Vice-Chancellor said he was in the office of the governor to inform him of his assumption of office as the fourth Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University and to sympathise with him over the demise of his predecessor.

Ijadunola also visited the Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi.
