The Federal University of Technology (FUT), FUT Minna, celebrates 187 first-class graduates in its 2020–2021 and 2022–2023 academic sessions. Vice Chancellor Prof. Farouk Adamu Kuta shares this achievement during a press briefing for the upcoming 31st and 32nd convocation set for February 1, 2024, at the main campus in Gidan-Kwano, along Minna-Bida Road, Niger State.
Prof. Kuta reveals that 3,867 and 3,445 students completed their studies in the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 academic sessions, totaling 7,312 graduates with first degrees. Additionally, 120 obtained postgraduate diplomas, 955 earned master’s degrees, and 150 secured doctorate degrees.

Highlighting innovations, he notes the adoption of an e-learning approach for 100-level students due to increased enrollment, and he also uses this to address challenges of insufficient lecture rooms and faculty. This online strategy that incorporates platforms for teaching and exams has proven effective in managing large classes and adapting to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In terms of accreditation, all academic courses at FUT Minna have achieved full recognition from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The institution is gearing up to host an international accrediting body, propelling it onto the global academic stage.
Prof. Kuta emphasizes research accomplishments, citing over N844 million attracted from the National Research Grant of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and five million euros from the European Commission for the EU-AU partnership project titled “Resilient, Inclusive, and Safe Food System for Everyone (UP-RISE).”
