The Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna has proudly announced the acquisition of a significant N844.5 million National Research Fund (NRF) from the esteemed Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) In a groundbreaking development in a groundbreaking development.
Prof. Farouk Adamu-Kuta, the university’s Vice Chancellor, unveiled this remarkable achievement during a news conference commemorating the 41st Founder’s Day, along with the combined 31st and 32nd convocation ceremonies in Minna on Tuesday.
Highlighting the university’s consistent prominence among Nigerian and international institutions, Adamu-Kuta attributed the success to the noteworthy research and innovation showcased by researchers from various schools and departments in 2022 and 2023. This prowess, he revealed, attracted the substantial research fund grant sponsored by TETFund.

Furthermore, FUT Minna, in collaboration with 11 international institutions, secured a substantial five million Euros in grant funding from the European Commission. The project, named “EU-AU Partnership for Resilient, Inclusive, and Safe Food System for Everyone (UP-RISE),” reflects the university’s commitment to impactful global initiatives.
Adamu-Kuta also highlighted another triumph as a research group from the university clinched an 800,000 Euro grant from the EU Commission under the Erasmus Plus Programme. Additionally, the university boasts 10 patented research products, showcasing its dedication to innovation.
Adamu-Kuta stated, “Our university’s prowess in research has garnered substantial recognition. Another research group has successfully secured an 800,000 Euro grant from the EU Commission under the Erasmus Plus Programme. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that our university takes pride in having patented 10 research products.”
Despite these achievements, the Vice Chancellor emphasized FUT Minna’s unwavering commitment to providing a conducive environment and incentives for researchers and inventors to further excel.
As the university prepares for a combined convocation, Adamu-Kuta disclosed that 7,312 students from the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 academic sessions would graduate, with an impressive 187 earning the coveted first-class honors. This milestone solidifies FUT Minna’s standing as a hub for academic excellence.
