The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated that President Bola Tinubu staunchly opposes the looting of public assets.
APC leaders in the state had called on President Tinubu and security agencies to help save Osun State from the anarchist hold of Governor Adeleke and his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that the Osun State Government had earlier, on January 18, 2024, issued a White Paper on traditional rulers and also for the retrieval of the public assets allegedly carted away by political appointees under the Oyetola administration.
Responding to Osun APC’s allegations with regards to the recently issued White Paper. Governor Adeleke emphasized that President Tinubu has consistently commended his efforts in addressing the challenges inherited in the state, underscoring their shared stance against corruption and misappropriation of public assets.
“I have interacted with President Tinubu a lot of times, and I know he appreciates my effort in cleaning the many messes I encountered in Osun.
He said, “from the actions of the President, he has shown he is a man of due process and, as such, will never support looting of public assets. It’s now unfortunate that Osun APC is showing acts that are contrary to the President’s style of governance
“Moreso, at the inception of our government, I set up an Asset Recovery Committee, with most of those with government properties alerted to the need to return them.
“It is now the report of the committee I’m acting on as demanded by the good people of the state.”
Asserting that he has been governing the state without any partisan affiliation, Governor Adeleke disclosed that he had not taken any political opponents to anti-graft agencies even when there were clear reasons to do so.
While imploring the appointees of the erstwhile administration in the state to return all government properties in their possession, he cautioned that his administration would spare no effort in recovering all looted government assets.
